Last night I made perfect spam musubi. I got the recipe from: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Spam-Musubi/Detail.aspx
I Perfected:
- The thickness of the spam slice (Tabasco infused)
- I finally had a spam can cut to use as a mold.
- The amount of rice
- The amount of water needed to cook the rice
- The amount of pressure and molding needed to mold the rice
- The amount of apple vinegar to use instead of rice vinegar
It’s a lot of fun. My babies look so perfect.
Just for fun I’m gonna show you guys Spam musubi made by some people on youtube which gives me the shudders:
This is not spam musubi. This is food fit for a pig.

This guy got everything right but he made the rice and spam slice too thick. He used the mold in a wrong way too. Its very easy to cut yourself while reaching into the spam can.
I also made ham and cheese roll ups. They’re very amateurish. However I didn’t have a recipe to follow and I only made it from pictures so I think it pretty good. I should have invested in a rolling pin but I didn’t like spending more on a dish that I’ll cook only once. I’m not a fan of fried bread.
