I’ve been seeing trailers for Urduja ever since I went to go see Iron man. I was immediately impressed by the quality of the animation and the character design.

I went to go watch it today.
I was astounded. It is a beautiful film. The animation is fluid and the characters are well designed and their faces are expressive. The backgrounds are beautifully painted and the voice acting is top-notch except maybe for Kukut the rat and Wang because I couldn’t understand what they were saying half of the time.

I am proud of this film. I can’t understand why people begin saying stuff about it like it being an anime, a Mulan clone, Pocahontas clone, corny and how un-original it is. It is NOT an anime or anything like those. It is a cartoon made by filipinos for filipinos and it is not imitating anything. It’s funny to see that those people who made those comments HAVENT EVEN WATCHED the movie.

Back on topic: Urduja’s script is good! Although a bit cliche it works. People in the cinema were laughing at the jokes and visual gags. The entire cinema was full of excited children and their parents. I was so happy that the kids could understand what was going on since it was in TAGALOG and that they enjoyed the comic songs and capers of Kukut and Tarsir.

Urduja is truly a new milestone for the filipino animation industry. It deftly avoids the CGI background disaster that was Ibong Adarna. There are CGI backgrounds in this movie but they are deftly disguised to look as if they were painted. Not all backgrounds were good. There were also some HORRIBLE pirate ship CGI scenes in Urduja. The forest scenes and the village scenes are well done.. lovingly painted, good backgrounds and lovable, realistic characters although I found myself grimacing at Kukut’s and Tarsir’s gibberish-sounding dialogue and songs, but the rest of the songs are well done, especially Regine’s song. It is VERY good and quite popular with everyone. A mother sitting beside me in the theatre began singing it when it played.

Seriously, people who put this film down without even seeing it should be like ME and support our budding animation industry. I am so sick of anime, naruto-retards and all that.
One of the best parts in watching Urduja was when the credits began to roll and a kid behind me began shouting “Isa pa, Isa pa! Ang ganda! Isa pa!!”
It looks like the Philippine animation industry has a bright future ahead of it.
See you guys at Dayo .

i fully agree with you. we hope for more movies like urduja which will show to the world that filipino artists can not only entertain but also educate filipino children. never mind those who criticize Urduja–they’re judging the externals, not the message, of the film. their eyes are so used to foreign animation that they miss the meaning coveyed by Urduja to our young people, especially women.
you really got me intrigued on this one. will take time to watch it!
Agreed. I’ve seen Urduja and though it’s no Makoto Shinkai or any of that, it was the best effort us Filipino animators could ever come up with. I hope this would be the start of a very beautiful relationship with us Filipino animators.
Besides, at least Mr. Tuviera worked hard for his film. Try to compare that with the crap the two networks keep coming up with every 3 months. (Read: Romance sap)

if you say na para kang nanood ng disney animation I will take it to mean na we have achieved world-class animation equivalent to disney’s cartoons.
