Fun and adventure at the 7th Philippine Toy Convention: My first time cosplaying

I just got back from the 7th Philipine toy convention in megamall.  It was fun and Extremely tiring.  I went as Super Mario.

We got there a little after opening time but the place was packed and the line for tickets was LONG! I got into costume and then my friends and I got in line.

My friends were like…  ”We don’t know you!”

Bastards.

While waiting in line I had my picure taken with this cute girl cosplaying as predator!  Cool!

It felt really weird to cosplay for the first time.  People instantly recognized my costume and were saying hi and asking for pictures.   It was very nice.

We met a guy cosplaying as hard gay! OMG! He really looked like Hard Gay and he had his characters mannerisms copied down to a tee..  WOW!!

We finally got inside the venue!  It was already crowded!

Toys toys toys galore!

Probably the coolest toy was a bust of Michael Jordan with sweat drops.  COOL!

Yeah, We all know Mike’s cool!  But this realistic model of Jack Sparrow took my breath away!

Oh my, Life sized models of Batman, Harley and Godzilla!

Despite all these nifty toys, the best selling item were these chikara hats.  Hey, instant cosplay costume!

After moving around I was so exhausted from posing with a lot of people.  Tired.  I was able to get a couple of shot of myself.

This years theme was Batman and Toycon had a huge exhibit on Batman.

We were glad to see that the old cool stuff from last year was still there like the burnt wood portrait thingies and the exhibit on Alfredo P. Alcala

The Question that everyone’s been asking:  Did you win anything at TOYCON?  The answer is NO!! (although I’m pleased that Master Diwa, another MARIO cosplayer won.) I didn’t enter the contests, I didn’t join ANYTHING. Note the lack of a registration tag around my neck.  I simply wanted to go as Mario with my bastard friends and have fun and get my picture taken.  Here are some pictures of me taken by my friend Chris (and I took pictures of him too!)  I was so busy posing for other peoples pictures that I only had a few this year.

Chikara hats to give to my friends..

I got Talecraft for myself!

and I played the Gashapons at the toycon.  I got the entire Super Mario Galaxy set WITHOUT getting any doubles.  That’s right 100% success rate.  A new gashapon every time!
