I saw this wonderful Youtube video of a lady named Tamar cooking bokumbap. She made it look very easy and the finished dish looked very delicious. I wanted to make bokumbap too! I like kimchi and korean food! Unlike japanese food which I think is not filling and expensive, korean food is surprisingly cheap, filling and healthy.
I decided to modify Tamar’s recipe a little and make it into more of a paella dish thingy. (If there is such a thing! LOL)
I got chinese sausage, onion, bell peppers and I chopped them all up.

I had kimchi and gochujang ready. They were surprisingly cheap. About 4 dollars or 200 pesos for the two of them. I got the gochujang from a korean grocery near my dorm.

Then I cooked half a kilo of ground chicken. I didn’t have turkey so chicken had to do. I fried them up in some olive oil. When the chicken was done, I added the veggies and the sausages.

After a while I added rice and kimchi and 1 tbsp of gochujang and mixed the whole thing really fast to prevent the rice from browning.

I forgot to put in the egg and sesame seeds that Tamar used in the video! I had sesame seeds left over from my making kimbap and the eggs were in the fridge where I had forgotten all about them.
The dish turned out great and absolutely delicious. I’m making this dish again! It’s very easy and very fun to make.

Dude, that looks pretty damn tasty. I always order bokumbap whenever I eat at a Korean restaurant. It’s definitely one of my favorite dishes.
