I hope these help a lot of college students and amateur chefs! You can also use a regular pot to cook your pasta. I don’t have a pot. I only have a rice cooker!
TUTORIAL ON MAKING PASTA IN A RICE COOKER
Ok so first of all you need to get a rice cooker. Fill it with water almost to the brim then add some olive oil. The oil prevents the pasta from sticking together and to the sides of the rice cooker.
Next, Put the lid on the rice cooker and let the water boil. It takes a long time for water to boil in the rice cooker so go and do your laundry or whatever.
When the water is at a ROLLING boil, dump in the pasta. The water should look something like this. The water is boiling furiously.
Ok so next dump in the pasta then stir it well. You need to stir it well so that the oil will stick to the pasta. Put the lid back on and let it boil.
Let it boil for a few minutes. Then check your pasta. Stir and taste your pasta. Let it cook until it’s done the way you want it. Pasta that’s well cooked should look like this.
Drain the Pasta well using a colander. Then you can make the sauce for it. You can use whatever sauce you want.
You can have the sauce seperately..
Or if you don’t like to wash a lot of dishes like me, you can just place all the sauce together in the pot and mix the pasta well.
Or you can make cheese sauce. (Angie, this was the first “pasta” n cheese I made using cheddar and parmesan!)
You can also mix sundried tomatoes and ketchup for an interesting sauce.

Hey man. Here’s a picture of chicken tequila penne pasta (think CPK). I’ll post the recipe when I find it. Try it out! You might like it, although you do need to prepare the sauce in a separate pot.

Hey thanks for the info, I was looking for exactly this solution.
Thanks so much Martin, you were a life saver. We made non-gluten pasta rotini and it went well. I have an old cooker from Japan and it took 15 minutes to get it to boil…and had to watch as the water almost boiled over. Had not had pasta in a couple of years! Thanks for all your help with the great pix.

Hey Martin,
I am a college student thanking you for this tutorial!
I am glad to be aware of a new function for my rice cooker.
Thanks!
I’m going through a kitchen remodel with little kids and pasta is a key dietary favorite…this will really help! Thank you! I was going to try just chucking it all in the cold water and turning it on, but I guess that produces mushy pasta?
thanks again,
Kristin
Thank you for the information! I’ll try tonight.
Thanks a lot fo this info! Exactly what I needed
I am going to cook some spaghetti with my rice cooker . I missed diner today, I am in college and I thank you for the tutorial
Just tried it. It works, but I wish the rice cooker had just a little more heat.
Thanks very much for the tutorial, I really had a spagetti jones.

Thank You! Works like a charm! We are having a kitchen redo…wanted pasta used capellini cooks in 2 min. I also used my electric water kettle to pre-boil the water before adding to the rice cooker.

Salamat Po. This was isang buhay Saver. Ito ay masarap!!
Great! You da man!
Thanks! Need to try this since I’m temporarily without a kitchen.
Who told you to put oil in the water when you cook macaroni? Unless you have a centrifuge to homogenize the oil and water, all you will get is a puddle of oil floating on top of the water, never even touching the macaroni.
You do, however, need to put salt in the water because that is the only chance you will get to season the macaroni.
The reason I put oil in the water when cooking pasta is to prevent boilover. The oil prevents starchy foam from forming and boiling over
Yeah, every Italian, like me, knows to use some oil to prevent boil-over and foaming of the starch! And my wife is Filipina and she knows this too. So wake up, Kwai…

Thank you so much for your tutorial! I wasn’t sure how long it would take to boil water in it so thank you!
Martin: If you are still there, please try a more simple way of cooking pasta in a rice cooker. 4 ounces of pasta plus 1.25 cups of box chicken broth or plain water and light it off. Result is perfectly cooked pasta for two with enough starch on it so that the sauce adheres nicely. No draining either.
thanks for the advice
